New York! (last post on this, promise)

I had so much fun, I just can't stop sharing...don't judge.

Cab ride on the way to the hotel.

At the top of the Rockefellar Plaza.
How awesome is this shot?
Almost as awesome as what appears to be an acrylic nail on my left thumb, lovely.

En route on the Subway to go here:
We took a ferry to Liberty Island to get an up close view.  So amazing!

Finally, primping....getting ready to eat at this amazing place I can't remember the name of...
I only remember I had three desserts...and they were delicious.

Carrie'd Away

New York was more fun than I could have imagined.

We spent some time doing some Sex and the City homage.
First stop, Carrie's apartment on Perry Street.

So thrilling.

Next, we went to dinner at Lumi, an Italian restaurant on Lexington Avenue.
It was featured in a few episodes, as well as the first movie.
Super quaint, quiet and gooood.
My ensemble for dinner was a little dedication to Carrie and her tutu skirt.

I picked up the shirt at H&M in NYC the last time I visited with my sister a few years ago.  I paired it with this awesome vintage skirt from Buffalo Gal, remember?  I finished the look off with the belt from Misred, fantastic gifted purse, and my awesome find from Neiman's Last Call.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Special Day

It's the most won-der-ful time of the year.....That's right, RayRay is turning 27 today!
Here is a special tribute to a very special lady on her very special Birthday....

That's, right- Rachel has always been fashion forward since day one. Pictured here in a vintage smock, 1970's heels and Keds to fill the gaps. As Rachel said it herself...
"I'm LILY".

OH! I just LOVE these shoes! I have to have them....

"Hello, Boys...."

And hello to you too, Rachel....

That little touch of makeup really goes a long way....

...For a special night for "Rosa Shoe"! Here we have a stunning vintage kimono, practical leather bag and the classic 70's plastic pumps again. (Such a versatile shoe...)

Not sure what this was about but I thought I'd throw it in there...

Always making plans....

"Hit me, baby, one more time"!

And the future Eugenia Woods. Nice teeth, Red.

Happy Birthday to my dear, RayRay. Today is your day so let's celebrate with joy, cheers and applause...    just like we do every weekend.

Much love and Happy Birthday! ~Red.

An Education.

So I'd like to start a small series called "An Education" in which we will explore (or merely touch the surface) the lost art of the Original Fashion Icon, or icons of yesteryear. I believe these Goddesses have inspired us current fashionistas without us even knowing it! I'd like to start with my personal favorite, Marlene Dietrich.

Paramount Studios always competing with MGM, insisted on having a "European Beauty" of their own. They soon discovered a rival to the already made Goddess, Garbo.....Dietrich. While all other singers of the thirties were high in the soprano range, in Germany's first talkie she growled her most famous song "Falling in Love again". This outfit, as all her costumes, she put together herself.

Her heavy lidded and radiant look was well planned in each photo, as she was also lighting designer for every photo shoot ever completed.

For "Shanghai Express" she and her favorite costume designer, Travis Banton, constructed this feather wonder topped with a stunning veil.

Move over, Marilyn! Marlene was the originator of the "transparent dress", made famous by Marilyn Monroe when she sang to JFK and in the film "Some Like it Hot".
Marlene used this in her touring days in the 50's and 60's.

She wore an afro wig for her "strip tease" as a Gorilla in "Blonde Venus"...

But perhaps, her most famous look is the trans-gender which she pulled off with grace. In Hollywood-Land she was appealing to both men and women! Katie Hepburn later made "wearing trousers" famous but it originated with Marlene.

Here's to you, Marlene!
(For additional reading check the book "Marlene Dietrich" by her daughter Maria Riva.)

Need Your Help, Thanks!

I have been lusting over these shoes for quite some time now and can't seem to find the designer.

Anyone know who made these?

Thank you!

Two days till NYC!

And two places I must go in chic ensembles, neon socks included.

The Jane Hotel's chic bar for a Dirty Martini.

And the Thom Bar at the Thompson Hotel for a glass of wine.  You know, to feel regal.

Good Morning!

Rebekah and I had a great opportunity to showcase our inventory at the Hyde Park Market in South Tampa yesterday.  What a gorgeous day...hot but gorgeous nonetheless!

A little turban/scarf fun...

Come out and see us next time!

We will be there throughout the summer the first Sunday of each month.

Happy Monday!
